Due the unforeseen circumstances of the COVID-19 virus the Band Boosters, Band Director and Southwestern Administrators have collectively made the tough decision to cancel the New Orleans trip and reschedule it to the summer of 2021.  Currently, we are wanting to keep the same week that this year’s trip was supposed to be on, however this is not set in stone at this time - our possible dates would be June 12th – 16th, 2021. 


Please know that this decision was not made lightly as we wanted to make sure that none of our students or parent chaperones would lose the deposits they have already paid if our country is not back to normal by June.  Through much debate and collaboration, we feel that at this point, rescheduling is our best option for everyone.  Many thanks go out to our understanding administrators who have made arrangements so that our 2020 Seniors will be allowed to attend this trip with us next summer!  Parents can make the decision if they would like a refund of any monies they have paid toward the trip.  Any money raised through fundraising will stay in the band booster account and this money would be for future use on our next band trip.  The other option would be to just keep all the money in the trip account so it can be applied to the trip next year.  Payments would start over in September again unless you keep the money in your account in that case you would just need to pay the last payment next spring.  We have excellent record keeping so if you have any questions about what is in your account please just ask.  This is also an opportunity to parents and students to add funds to their accounts in the upcoming school year.


We also hope that this will allow more students and parents not currently signed up for the trip another year to make arrangements to be able to go with us.  If you would like to pass this information along to other band parents and students, please feel free to do so!  We do know things can change in a year with family plans that is why we thought it best to cancel instead of rescheduling right away in case a student would not be able to attend next year.
